WACAP Camp 2012

This summer’s Family Camp is packed with familiar favorites and plenty of activities for tots to adults: Fashion Show, Talent Show, Outdoor Market, Teen Center, a variety of sports/games, Bingo, a Camp Dance, and much more! This year, we have added new activities for your families enjoyment. Pool, lake fishing and swimming are available at the Resort for no extra charge. Activities at the Resort include boat rentals, a 9-hole golf course, Water Wars, and miniature golf.

Families need to provide their own food, dishes/utensils and cookware for Camp. There is a grocery store on the grounds for extra or forgotten items, a laundromat, and snack bar. Wacap Family Camp is a 5 day event!

Please note that WACAP families will be given first priority for all sites. Be assured that each year there has been room in the campground for overflow of extended family and friends. Also, new for 2012, additional overflow campsites will be avaialble near some Lakeside cabins.

All WACAP Family Camp days must be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis by online registration & mailed in deposit only. Sites are assigned by family size: no less than 6 in mobiles, 5 in Lakesides with bedroom, and 4 in Poolsides (feel free to share with another family). Priority will be given to families registering for the full Camp: Wednesday–Sunday.

We honor requests with the above guidelines in mind. Remember, each family must send in their own registration, even if sharing a cabin. Are you sharing and/or want to be in a certain vicinity with other families? Then be sure that all families involved get their own registration in promptly when registration opens. This makes granting of special requests more likely!

Teen Center!

The bulk of teens that come to the Teen Center are those ages 13-15, so we have designed activities specifically around this age group. If your child is just fine with this age range, developmentally or otherwise, we encourage their participation as long as they are 13 & up. We think this will be a positive change that will better reflect our Camp population.

Extending your stay

Many families plan to stay extra days. If this is a possibility, you’ll need to coordinate your accommodations with BOTH the Resort Office (509-632-5291) and Laura Gaukroger-Holland (509-860-0608), please call evenings only, before 9 p.m.) or email lauramargitta@hotmail.com. Sun Lakes Resort accepts mail reservations beginning now.

New for 2012 - Overflow camp sites near Lakeside cabins

Does part of your group stay in cabins and part in the campground? If so, we have arranged an opportunity for you to be closer together. Overflow campsites can be set up in the large grassy and shady median near Lakeside cabins 4 through 13. Please contact Sun Lakes for the fee for these campsites.

Our goal is to have a family picture for everyone in the WFC Family Directory for 2012! Please email a photo (no larger than 4x6) to shanar@netzero.com, or mail one to Kathi Bishop, 633 S.E. 2 nd St., Hillsboro, OR, 97123. Include the names and ages of your children, and please write your name on the back of your photo if you would like it returned. After scanning, your photo will be returned to you with your Final Packet at Camp. Final deadline for photos is 6/30/12.
